Vada Pav-Mumbai Street Food/Chaat


Vada pav is a famous street food of Mumbai. It is the Indianized version of sandwich with batata vada as the filling and green chutney to pep it up. The best part of the vada pav is the spicy dry garlic chutney that totally makes a difference in taste. I can simply nibble some potato chips with this chutney.

Noodles are my absolute favorite. I can have them for any meal/all meal of the day. Well this recipe, of course shows how far one can go for the noodles. But this idea truly came from a snack I had an year ago from a food outlet while I was shopping for groceries. I should say the moment I saw ‘maggi’ on the menu I immediately ordered it before I could completely read the name of the dish.

Kola Urundai is one of the traditional recipes from Chettinad cuisine that makes many drool over. Now how kola urundai made with mutton/minced lamb is gonna feature in a vegetarian blog? Well it’s gonna transform into mushroom kola urundai just so even vegetarians can get a bite of this drool worthy dish. Having said that it’s a drool worthy dish the looks may not be that inviting but sure when you take a bit you ll get to know what I mean.

Ammini Kozhukattai/Steamed Rice dumplings


Ammini kozhukattai is one of those dishes that bring everlasting memories. My Periyamma likes these ammini kozhukattai a lot. So Amma makes these lovely little balls whenever Periyamma visits us. Nothing fancy about this steamed rice balls, but makes a perfect home-made snack that can be made easily. Now off to the recipe.

Jhalmuri


Jhalmuri is a snack/chat item made using puffed rice. Jhalmuri is a street snack of Bengal like Beach pori in Tamil Nadu. One day i was watching ‘eat street’ in Fox life. They featured about a Briton Jhalmuri seller who was addicted to this Jhalmuri when he visited Kolkata and later took it as a business. The way he made the Jhalmuri was mesmerizing and it made me drool over and urged me to try it. So here it is.
