Thakkali Chutney is tasty and super-easy chutney that can be
made in less than fifteen minutes. Usually i don’t post breakfast recipes its
not because i don’t make breakfastJ,
but i don’t get time to click. But slowly i will start posting them and the
first initiative is this post!
Ingredients:
Tomatoes-2, medium sized, roughly chopped
Onions-2, medium sized, peeled and roughly chopped
Red chillies (long) -2
Asafoetida/hing-a pinch
Salt-as needed
Oil-1 tsp
How it Happened:
1. Heat oil in a kadai, add the chillies and fry until they
slightly swell up and become little crispy. Remove them from oil and set aside.
2. Then add the chopped onions and fry until translucent
then add tomatoes and fry until their skin starts blistering.Switch off the
flame.
3. Once when they cool down, put in a blender jar along with
the fried red chillies, salt and asafoetida. Grind until they are smooth.
4. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve with idlis/dosas.
Notes:
*Green chillies can also be used. Fry them until the skin
blister and then add it to the blender. But it dulls the colour a bit. Adjust
the chillies according to your preference. The measurement is of medium hot.
*Shallots can be used instead of onions.
*If you want you can do tempering with mustard seeds, urad
dal and curry leaves in gingelly oil.
* Adjust the tomatoes for tanginess.
