Sweet Chutney for Chaat Food/Tamarind-Dates Chutney/Khata-Meeta Chutney

Most Chaat items need a drizzle of this sweet chutney to gives a tangy tickle in your palette. This sweet chutney can also be served as an accompaniment for fried snacks like samosas and pakoras. M is a great fan of this chutney and the ones we get along with samosas are not good enough and also they are watery.
So i made a batch and stored it and also it will give some boost to make chaat items to get out of my lazy shell!
Ingredients:
Dates-10, deseeded
Tamarind-1 small lemon sized/1 tbsp tightly packed
Gur/jaggery-2 tbsp powdered
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Chat masala-1 tsp
Roasted cumin powder-1/2 tsp
How it Happened:
1. Deseed the dates and tamarind and put them in a bowl with a tbsp of water. Pressure cook them in medium flame for 5 whistles.
2. Once the pressure is released remove the dates and tamarind and mash them to a fine paste using a spoon or you can pulse it in your blender. Remove any tamarind strings in there.
3. Transfer the paste to a kadai along with 1 cup of water and let it be in medium flame for 2-4 minutes.
4. When it starts to bubble add the spice powders and jaggery and mix well.
5. Allow it to boil for 5 minutes. Check for the taste and consistency. Switch off the flame.
6. Let it to rest and cool. Transfer to a clean dry container and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes:
*If using tamarind pulp pressure cook dates alone mash it well and add it to the tamarind pulp.
* Adjust the spices and jaggery as per your taste.
*Adjust the consistency by adding water, preferably in the consistency of tomato ketchup.
* Colour of the chutney varies depending on the dates and tamarind.

* Kokum can replace tamarind which gives a distinct flavour.
